Design on a Dime 2022

As part of Design on a Dime 2022, Housing Works Bookstore collaborated with BoND Architecture to create an a-typical installation. BoND designed and fabricated a series of custom stainless steel objects, humorous and playful in their geometry. BoND’s objects served as a platform to display 200 books from the Housing Works Bookstore. Set like dominos, the books form a continuous loop around the space.

The installation highlights HW Bookstore as a unique body within the Housing Works organization. The store, located on Crosby Street in SoHo, has a collection of miles of books – new, old, and even rare – that are all sold in support of Housing Works charity. The store sells books individually as well as by the foot – categorized by genre, color, or size.
